Reading striker Yakou Meite has revealed his favourite moment from his time at the club during a Q&A on his Instagram story.

And it was a simple choice for the Ivorian, who plumped for his 97th minute winner against Wigan Athletic last season during a 3-2 win at the Madejski Stadium.

Arriving into the box unnoticed, Meite directed a brilliant header into the bottom corner to secure what was a crucial three points in the club's bid to survive the drop.

Meite made the move to Berkshire from Paris Saint Germain's B team during the summer of 2016 and has gone on to become a fan favourite, scoring 17 goals in 62 appearances including 12 last season.

The Royals currently sit in 20th place with eight matches played, just two points above the drop zone, with a tough trip to high-flying Swansea City in store for them on Saturday as well.

And you can bet that the 23-year-old will be looking to top that memory from the Latics' clash, although it will prove difficult to shift.

The verdict

I don't think you can overstate just how important that goal was for Reading last season.

With Wigan also scrapping against the drop, it proved a real catalyst for the club to put together a strong run of form and secure their place in the second tier.

It will be interesting now to see how big a role he is given this time around, however, with the likes of Puscas arriving in the summer.

It certainly gives Gomes a great dilemma to have.
