Bristol City earned all three points in South Wales yesterday, condemning Cardiff City to their first defeat of the new Championship season.

The Robins travelled to the Cardiff City Stadium having picked up four points from their opening four games, whilst The Bluebirds sat in the play-off positions, after two wins and two draws.

In a well-contested start to the game, Andreas Weimann gave the visitors the advantage in the 21st minute, before a Daniel Bentley own goal levelled the contest with half an hour to go.

Bristol City regained the advantage in the 70th minute, and it was Weimann against who grabbed what proved to be the decisive goal.

Victory for The Robins has pushed them into 11th position, whilst knocking Cardiff back to ninth.

Weimann, who already has four goals to his name this campaign, spent the vast majority of last season out through injury.
