Blackpool's FA Cup run was ended at Premier League Brighton on Saturday, but less than two hours after the full-time whistle at The Amex, the Seasiders announced a major signing.

Neil Critchley has generally been quiet this month, adding only young goalkeeper Ellis Simms on loan from Everton, but has secured the services of former Tottenham and Liverpool midfielder Kevin Stewart on a permanent deal.

Stewart, who was a product of Spurs' academy, has been without a club since his release from Hull City at the end of last season following their relegation to League One, but has joined up with the Seasiders on an 18-month contract.

The defensive midfielder featured 78 times for the Tigers, and has enjoyed loan spells at Burton, Cheltenham and Swindon during his time at Anfield, where he also made 11 Premier League appearances.
