Bury have appointed Paul Wilkinson as their new manager but it is an uninspiring choice for many Shakers fans.

The 54-year-old arrives with a wealth of footballing experience both as a player and a coach, but this will be his first stint as a full-time manager.

Wilkinson has held caretaker roles at Northampton, Grimsby and most recently at Truro City, which is why many Bury fans are surprised by the decision to appoint him.

However, it is still a positive move for Bury, who have in recent weeks lost manager Ryan Lowe as well as key players Danny Mayor and Nicky Maynard.

Despite that, some Bury fans are concerned.

In Wilkinson's six games in charge of Truro last season he failed to win a single game and the club was subsequently relegated from the National League South.

Here is some of the reactions from frustrated Bury fans on Twitter.
