Sunderland remain winless in their last four matches in all competitions, as they were forced to settle for a point in their recent match against Doncaster Rovers.
The Black Cats took the lead at the Keepmoat Stadium on Saturday, as Grant Leadbitter opened the scoring after 43 minutes. But they couldn’t hold on to take three points, as Fejiri Okenabirhie equalised for the hosts in injury-time to see the points shared.
That draw means that Sunderland are now sat eighth in the League One table after their opening 12 matches of this year’s campaign, as the pressure continues to grow on manager Phil Parkinson.
Speaking in a post-match press conference, Parkinson admitted that his side should take heart from the point against Doncaster, as Darren Moore’s side have beaten their promotion rivals Ipswich Town and Lincoln City.
“Our boys have got to take a lot of heart from the way they played today. These beat Ipswich and Lincoln.”
It’s safe to say that these comments didn’t sit well with the Stadium of Light faithful, who were quick to take to social media to turn on Parkinson.
Take a look at the best of the reaction from Twitter below….
They beat the mighty Lincoln? That’s alright then

But that’s it. This is the guy’s level. This is acceptable to him. He doesn’t have a clue how embarrassing it is for the club.

This is exactly why we aren’t getting promoted. Wrong mentality altogether. He has took us from our lowest point and somehow made it worse.

It’s small club mentality. That’s why he’s the wrong fit for our club.
He isn’t positive, he doesn’t think big
