QPR have confirmed on Twitter that over £100,000 was raised from the Stan Bowles Benefit Match arranged by the club.

The match, which took place against Bournemouth in July, was played in honour of club legend Stan Bowles, who is sadly suffering from Alzheimer’s disease.

The money will eventually be transferred directly to the QPR No.10 Foundation, before being passed on to Stan and his family to accommodate for the 68-year-old’s care.

The former midfielder became a legend at Loftus Road during a seven year spell with the club in the 1970’s, as well as playing for other clubs including Manchester City, Brentford, Crewe and Nottingham Forest.

The GoFundme page set up in his honour raised over £50,000 alone, and the figure is set to rise with signed warm-up t-shirts from the game set to go on auction very soon.

Fans took to Twitter to praise the club and Bowles, and many kind words were shared by fans and former players about the legendary player…
