Luton Town are preparing a bid for Charlton Athletic winger Alfie Doughty, according to reputable journalist Alan Nixon.

The Hatters pulled off a fantastic turnaround following the season’s resumption and survived the drop down to League One under Nathan Jones.

Charlton, meanwhile, were relegated on the final day of the season after a 4-0 defeat to Leeds United at Elland Road, with the club potentially set to lose some of their key players ahead of next season.

Who did Charlton's biggest home attendance of the season come against?

According to Nixon, Doughty – who was the subject of interest from Fulham in January – is now attracting attention from Luton, who are set to submit a bid for the midfielder.

Doughty’s contract at the Valley expires next summer and is reportedly unlikely to sign a new deal due to the uncertainty around the ownership of the club.

The 20-year-old was a bright player under Bowyer this season, scoring two goals and chipping in with three assists in 29 Championship appearances for the Addicks.

With Macauley Bonne and Dillion Phillips also beginning to attract interest, it promises to be a long, nervy summer for Charlton fans, who will be desperate to keep hold of their key players.

Here, though, we take a look at Charlton fans’ reactions to Doughty potentially joining Luton Town…
