Aston Villa have sent a message to Jordan Veretout from the club’s official Twitter account, wishing the midfielder a "happy 24^th birthday," prompting some hilarious responses from fans.

Veretout is currently on a season-long loan deal with French side Saint Etienne, having failed to impress during his debut season at Villa Park.

The midfielder joined the club during the summer of 2015, ahead of a Premier League season, which eventually saw Villa relegated into the Sky Bet Championship.

Veretout linked up with Villa in an £8m deal from FC Nantes, and came with a fantastic reputation.

The Frenchman disappointed during the 2015/16 campaign, where Veretout failed to score a single goal in 29 appearances.

Since Veretout’s departure, Villa have strengthened the central midfield area significantly, Mile Jedinak joined the club during the summer, before Conor Hourihane, Henri Lansbury and Birkir Bjarnason arrived in January.
