The future of West Brom youngster Rayhaan Tulloch seems to be up in the air heading into the summer, with interest from a number of teams.

Football Insider have previously reported that the likes of Rangers, Hibernian and Spanish side Leganes are interested in landing his signature.

But it is also claimed that Slaven Bilic's side are confident of reaching a fresh agreement with the 19-year-old over a new deal at The Hawthorns.

Speaking in an interview with West Brom News, former Baggies striker Kevin Phillips insisted that they need to keep hold of Tulloch heading into the summer transfer window, and hinted that a loan move might be the best option at this moment in time.

"If you’ve got clubs like that sniffing around then, for me, why would you let him go? Keep him at the football club.

"He’s a young lad and I’ve said before that I like to see young players go out on loan. Why would you let an asset like that leave the club when he’s one of your own who you’ve developed?

"My personal opinion is that they’re not going to use him next season so send him out on loan and let him develop and then look at your options."

Phillips also felt that Tulloch could be the player that the Baggies need to lead their line in attack, and felt that it 'wouldn't make sense' to let him depart on a permanent basis anytime soon.

"We all know that West Brom need a striker so in 12 months’ time, when he comes back, he could be ready to go straight into the first-team.

"It wouldn’t make sense to let the kid go. If clubs are chasing him then they’ve got a talent on their hands."

West Brom could well be playing their football in the Premier League next season, with the Baggies sat second in the Championship table with nine matches still to play this term.

The Verdict:

I think they should be looking at loaning him out next season.

Tulloch is unlikely to be getting the regular game time he needs to develop in senior football at the moment with West Brom, especially if they win promotion into the Premier League in the near future.

But he's shown promising signs with the club's Under-23s team, and the Baggies would be making a huge mistake in even considering letting him depart in the summer.

A successful loan spell away from West Brom could see him come back the following season and challenge for a starting spot in their squad.
