Leo Bonatini played an important role in Wolves' promotion campaign.

West Brom finished bottom of the Premier League in a dismal campaign which was only brightened up by Darren Moore's tenure at the end of the season because he helped them finish the season respectfully with a win over Manchester United and a draw with Liverpool among other results.

They could lose Salomon Rondon as well as other players this summer as consequences of getting relegated. Therefore, new personnel will be needed to deal with these departures as well as prepare for life in the Championship.

Here at FLW, we had a look at whether Bonatini could be the ideal striker for West Brom to bring in to deal with that transition.

Bonatini scored 12 goals in 43 league games, which is a decent return. However, the major issue with the Brazilian is that none of these goals came after December, so he has severe bouts of inconsistency.

These goals helped Wolves start the season strongly, but they had to heavily rely on Diogo Jota and loanee Benik Afobe in the second half of the season. This is probably part of the reason why they don't seem interested in signing him permanently.

He averaged 1.9 shots per game throughout the season, which shows how his ability to get in dangerous areas didn't reduce even if his goals did. Bonatini isn't limited to just being a goalscoring threat, though.

The 24-year-old provided five assists as well as creating 38 chances, so he can shift to being a creator in the final third, so he would work well with another striker. His average of 0.9 key passes per game show how he is able to work openings in dangerous areas. He could be an excellent addition to a team that struggled for goals among the forward players, but he needs to ensure that he is consistently firing.
