David Prutton is expecting the pressure to continue to mount on Carlos Carvalhal at Sheffield Wednesday, with the pundit predicting Derby County to beat them this weekend, reports Sky Sports.

Writing in his prediction column for Sky, Prutton has admitted he can’t see Wednesday turning things around at the Pride Park Stadium this weekend, with Derby handing the Owls yet another defeat, beating them 2-1.

Carvalhal is under huge pressure at Hillsborough, with his Sheffield Wednesday squad enduring an extremely slow start to the Sky Bet Championship season, which has left them heading into this weekend’s fixtures 12th, four points adrift of the top-six.

The Owls have lost three of their last four fixtures in the Championship, including last weekend’s clash with Bolton Wanderers, who heading into that fixture had not recorded a victory in the league this season.

Derby have also had a difficult start to the season, with Gary Rowett unable to make a major impact on the Championship without the likes of Tom Ince at Pride Park any longer.

The Rams have picked up the same number of points as Wednesday this season, but will head into tomorrow’s fixture in contrasting form, on an unbeaten run of four fixtures in the Championship.

The Verdict

If Wednesday lose this game, Carvalhal will be in serious trouble, with Wednesday’s Portuguese boss seemingly on borrowed time.

It is a must win game for Carvalhal and his players, and they will be looking to get back on track against a strong looking Derby side.

It will be close, but we are expecting to see Wednesday put in a strong performance and head back to South Yorkshire with at least a point tomorrow evening.
