Nottingham Forest will reportedly prioritise signing a striker in the January transfer window with Arsenal's Folarin Balogun a target, which has drawn an excited response from fans of the East Midlands club.

The winter window will be Steve Cooper's first as Forest boss and after an impressive start to life at The City Ground, we can expect to see him get the sort of financial backing that previous Reds managers have enjoyed in the past.

According to The Telegraph's John Percy, the Championship club will prioritise the signing of a new striker in January, likely via a loan from a Premier League club.

It is understood that Balogun is one of Forest's targets while Aston Villa's Keinan Davis is also a possibility but a move for Norwich City's Adam Idah is looking unlikely.

The 20-year-old Gunners forward has been in fantastic form for the club's age-group sides this term – scoring 15 goals in 13 appearances in the Premier League 2 and EFL Trophy.

Opportunities have been limited in Mikel Arteta's first team, seeing him play just 77 minutes of senior football this term, and it has been suggested already that Arsenal will let him leave on loan next month.

Previous reports have indicated there is a huge amount of interest in Balogun but these fresh links to Forest have excited plenty of Reds fans, who took to Twitter to voice their thoughts...
