Rangers goalkeeper Wes Foderingham is on the radar of Middlesbrough, according to The Daily Mail, with the 28-year-old out of contract at Rangers at the end of the season, after essentially becoming a squad player under Gers manager Steven Gerrard.

With Allan McGregor having firmly established himself as the first-choice goalkeeper for Rangers, Foderingham has struggled for playing time leading Middlesbrough to look at the former Swindon Town goalkeeper as a potential replacement for Darren Randolph, who is wanted by Premier League outfit West Ham United.

So would Foderingham be a good signing for Boro?

We discuss........

Ned Holmes

"A move for Foderingham would make a lot of sense for Middlesbrough.

"Losing Darren Randolph in January will undoubtedly be a huge blow but for that reason, the North East club need to ensure they have a replacement lined up.

"Foderingham looks like he could be exactly that. The 28-year-old has shown his capabilities as a first-choice shot-stopper in the past at both Rangers and Swindon Town.

"The Englishman has fallen out of favour at Ibrox, making just four appearances this season, so will likely be open to a move to the Riverside."

George Harbey

"I think that this would be a really good signing for Middlesbrough, especially if Darren Randolph is leave to the Riverside.

"Foderingham is a really talented shot-stopper who is powerful and commands his box really well, and he's done really well at Rangers despite falling out-of-favour under Steven Gerrard.

"To sign him potentially on a free transfer would be shrewd business from Boro, and it gives them the opportunity to sign two players for the price of one in some respect.

"Obviously, most fans would want to keep Randolph as he is arguably one of the best goalkeepers in the league, but Foderingham would be a cracking replacement."

Josh Cole

“This could turn out to be a shrewd move by Middlesbrough providing that they can seal a deal for Wes Foderingham.

“Although the Smoggies currently have a fantastic shot-stopper at their disposal in the form of Darren Randolph, there is no guarantee that the Republic of Ireland international will commit his long-term future to the club given their current situation in the Championship.

“Therefore, Jonathan Woodgate should be looking to bring in reinforcements and thus a move for Foderingham could make sense.

“Although the goalkeeper has only featured on a sporadic basis for Rangers this season, he has illustrated in the past that he is more than capable of delivering the goods consistently in the Scottish Premiership.

“Providing that he can hit the ground running in the second-tier for Boro, he could potentially become a key player at the Riverside Stadium.”
