Reading have had a rather inconsistent season of late, but with a lot of new players signed there was always going to be a fluctuating period of results.
Ovie Ejaria and Matt Miazga joined on loan for a second successive spell at the club, but one player who didn’t return was Lewis Baker.
The midfielder went to Germany to play for Fortuna Düsseldorf, but is reportedly unhappy at the club and could return to Chelsea in January.
This would free him up to join another side on either a permanent or a loan basis in order for the midfielder to start playing more games.
During his time at Reading he became a fan favourite as he was part of a side that managed to stay in the Championship after an awful first-half of the season.
Here’s how Reading supporters reacted to the news that Baker is unhappy in Germany..

We need to bring @lew_baker back home in January.
He’s not happy in Düsseldorf. Would suit this style incredibly well alongside Swift and Ejaria. We are heading in the right direction and the fans love him here.

Baker unhappy, would love us to get him back in Jan. Really started to perform when he settled in. #readingfc

Would prefer rino to him tbh, but as a first back up I wouldn’t hesitate 👍 after today without both swift and ejaria I can see we are light in midfield (in spite of the result 😅)

I would like to see Lewis Baker in the midfield of Reading, Swift and Ejaria with him would be perfect.
