West Bromwich Albion are keen on Luton Town right-back James Bree, according to a report from the Express&Star

Darnell Furlong is currently Albion's only right-sided defender and Steve Bruce is understood to want to add more options – with Bree on the Championship club's radar.

But would he be a good signing for the Baggies? And do they need him?

We quizzed our FLW writers for their thoughts...

This would be a welcome addition to Steve Bruce’s side, with the full-back having performed exceptionally for Luton this season.

Bree earned six assists for the side from the right flank and was an integral part of the side that secured a play-off place.

Given Bruce opted for a back-five formation at times last season, Bree would also fit nicely in a more advanced role.

The 24-year-old would likely be an upgrade on Darnell Furlong, and he would certainly create healthy competition for minutes in the starting lineup that the Baggies boss desires.

James Bree comes as somewhat of a surprise target for West Brom but that doesn’t mean he wouldn’t be a good signing for the club.

He was excellent for the Hatters over the course of the last campaign during their run to the play-offs and was a mainstay for the side on the flank. Considering how proven he already is in the Championship then, he could be a really solid addition for the Baggies as they look to climb the division too.

His age also works in his favour. At 24-years-old and with so much experience and know-how already - as well as the fact he has arguably been one of the most underrated players in the division - he would be a very smart signing with the potential to get even better.

For Luton to lose him would be a blow - but Steve Bruce would no doubt be delighted.

This does feel as though it could be a rather good signing for West Brom.

It does seem as though the Baggies are keen to add to their options at right-back this summer, and they would obviously be doing that with the addition of Bree.

Following his exploits with Luton this season, the 24-year-old certainly knows what is needed to break into the top six in the Championship, having played a key role in helping the Hatters to do that as a regular feature in their side.

That could be just what West Brom need as they look to bounce back from what was a disappointing campaign for them, and with Bree capable of bringing a spark going forward with his creativity as well, this does look to be one that could be well worth pursuing for the Baggies.
