Chelsea face competition from Manchester City if they want to sign Sunderland teenager Bali Mumba, according to Alan Nixon in the Sun on Sunday (November 4th, page 59), with both clubs watching the player in his latest outing in the FA Youth Cup.

Mumba, 17, has also caught the eye in a handful of appearances for the first team and the temptation of a Premier League club contract may be too tempting for the player, while the club could invest any fee received in the January transfer window to aid their promotion push.

So would Mumba be a good signing for Chelsea?

We discuss.....

George Harbey

Mumba looks to be a fantastic prospect and would be a great signing for the future.

Knowing Chelsea’s youth policy though, would it be a good move for the youngster? I think not.

Jay Taylor

It would be a good signing, but would he ever play?

Chelsea love to stockpile players and send them out on loan with some never playing for the first team.

So the path through to making a senior debut looks bleak compared to other teams higher up the food chain.

George Dagless

It's a bit early.

He's a good player with the attributes to make it to the top but he won't play at Chelsea.

He should stay put at Sunderland for sure.
