Robert Snodgrass played a role in West Ham's 3-1 victory against Manchester United yesterday, coming on as a sub as they condemned Jose Mourinho's side to their worst start in 29 years.

Snodgrass, who was on loan at Aston Villa last season, was clearly delighted. He took to social media saying; "Great result, from start to finish the lads grafted and produced the goods at the right time."

That had droves of West Ham fans replying, all thanking him for his effort, complimenting his attitude and generally expressing their delight at the win. It also encouraged a few Championship fans to reply too, namely those long-suffering supporters of Aston Villa.

They drew 1-1 at Bristol City yesterday, but clearly still hold their former loan star in high regard. He had been linked with a summer return, but that didn't transpire and now he's on the biggest stage of them all.

The 31-year old made 43 senior appearances for Villa, scoring seven times and if these responses are anything to go by, he's always welcome back in the Midlands.
