Goal are reporting that Championship side Charlton Athletic are chasing young Liverpool midfielder Herbie Kane ahead of the January transfer window.

Liverpool are thought to be interested in letting the youngster go on a permanent if the right offer came in, however a loan deal for the 21-year-old looks the likeliest option at this stage.

Charlton aren't the only Championship side thought to be interested in him, with Hull City also eyeing up the youngster for a potential move.

Kane got his first taste of senior football last season while out on loan with Doncaster Rovers, then managed by Hull's Grant McCann, and he scored seven goals in 49 appearances across all competitions.

He also made his debut for boyhood club Liverpool this season, making two appearances in the Carabao Cup, which also included his first start in the 5-0 defeat to Aston Villa.

The latest transfer development surrounding Kane comes after reports surfaced of Addicks loan star Conor Gallagher being sought after by Burnley in the upcoming transfer window. Parent club Chelsea have a recall clause in the loan deal with Charlton.
