Leeds United already have half-an-eye on their summer transfer business, with the club sending scouts to look at Oxford United midfielder Cameron Brannagan and it would seem the U's will be prepared to let the former Liverpool academy graduate leave, as long as his £5m valuation is met, according to a report by Football Insider.

The goal-scoring midfielder has been on-fire since arriving at Oxford from Liverpool in January 2018, going on to make 28 league starts among 34 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring seven times and laying on four assists.

So would Brannagan be good value at £5million and should the Whites make a move for the player in the summer?

"Once again, an Oxford player is on the radar of a club in a higher division, as Leeds seem to seriously be considering Brannagan for a summer move.

"The central defender has been a key player for Karl Robinson's side this term, making a total of 35 appearances, scoring seven goals in the process, which is very impressive.

"His displays for the U's would make him a good signing for Leeds, as it would add competition in defence. At the age of 23, Brannagan can also develop further.

"With £5 million being touted as the asking price, that figure represents a risk for Leeds, considering he could be making the step up to the Premier League from the third tier if the Whites manage to secure promotion."

“I think that this would be a very shrewd deal for a very talented player, based on how well he has played at Oxford United this season.

“Coming through the Liverpool academy setup, Brannagan has been a highly regarded midfielder and his form is finally showing that as he settles at the Kassam Stadium.

“Leeds could be looking for another central midfielder in the summer as Pablo Hernandez ages and Adam Forshaw struggles with injury, meaning Branaggan could slot in very well.

“At £5million, it presents a worthwhile deal for Leeds and he would definitely fit into the current system, the only doubt would be over whether he would be ready to potentially play Premier League football.”

Chris Thorpe

"Brannagan was something of a bright young prospect and has obviously taken the brave step to take a step down with Oxford United in League One.

"Thus far it has largely proven to have been a good career decision for the talented midfielder and as a result he could well be on his way out of the Kassam this summer.

"In terms of playing style, Brannagan can largely be linked to that of Lewis Cook, who of course stood out during his time with the Whites.

"It is certainly an area of the side that Bielsa is sure to be keen to strengthen and the former Liverpool man would certainly fit the bill due to his work-rate and undeniable potential, even if his price is seemingly steep."
