Football League World’s Nottingham Forest fan pundit Grant Brindley has suggested that the Reds should recall on-loan striker Tyler Walker in January if they’re battling for the play-off places.

Walker joined Lincoln City on loan in the summer and has been in excellent form for the Imps, scoring four goals and providing two assists in seven League One games.

Outside main striker Lewis Grabban, Forest’s only real option is Rafa Mir, a relatively untested 22-year-old forward who is on-loan from Wolves.

Sabri Lamouchi revealed last week that Walker can be recalled in January and Brindley has indicated that the club should do exactly that if they’re competing for the play-offs at that point.

He said: “I think if he is still in really good form and we are still up there it would be a good decision to bring him back.

“We are seriously light upfront and fully expect us to strengthen in that area if we are still up there.

“Bringing in an in-form striker who will cost us nothing would be brilliant if he can contribute.”

Brindley highlighted Walker’s record in front of goal as his main strength.

He explained: “Walker has scored goals all through his youth career and has been successful with his loan moves both at Mansfield last season and this season at Lincoln.

“He has struggled at times when he was played for us in the Championship but the service he was getting wasn’t great.

“Given a run with decent service I can see him scoring but it will be difficult for him against Championship defenders.”

Forest made a huge statement by beating first-placed Swansea City on Saturday and the three points helped them climb to 10th.

Lamouchi’s side have faced six of the top eight so far this season but now face a kinder run of games, with newly-promoted Barnsley up next.
