After a lengthy spell on the sidelines, Yohan Benalouane looks to be edging closer to making a full return from injury for Nottingham Forest.

The 32-year-old, who signed for the Reds from Leicester City in January, made 14 appearances under Martin O'Neill in the second half of the 2018/19 campaign.

But the Tunisian centre-half hasn't featured for Forest since April, being ruled of action with injury since their defeat to Sheffield United.

Almost seven months later, though, Benalouane is seemingly closing in on a return to first-team action, sharing an injury update on Instagram.

It will be a massive ask for Benalouane to break into Lamouchi's team, though. Joe Worrall and Michael Dawson have been outstanding this season, and in the latter's absence, Chema and Tobias Figueiredo have also impressed.

Time is running out for Benalouane to make an impact - the defender's contract at the City Ground is set to expire at the end of the season, and the club are yet to confirm an extension despite Tuttomercatoweb claiming that he penned a new deal in the summer.

Forest fans have been debating whether they would offer Benalouane a new deal - here's what they have been saying...
