Celtic winger Ryan Christie has been linked with a move to Sunderland today as his Parkhead career peters out.

He's struggled to break through with the Scottish giants, enjoying loan spells with his former side Inverness Caledonian Thistle as well as two with Aberdeen.

The 23-year-old is out of contract in the summer and reports suggest that Celtic will listen to offers of a short-term loan and option to buy, which has interested Jack Ross at Sunderland.

Would the wide man be an asset in League One, could he be the final piece of a promotion jigsaw?

Our panel discuss the move, asking whether signing Christie would be a good move by the Black Cats.

Jay Taylor

It would be very good.

The 23-year-old isn’t featuring regularly at his current side and could be a suitably solid addition to Jack Ross’ men.

With the future of Lee Cattermole still up in the air, adding the bright young Celtic man would be a good move.

He has what it takes to be a hit at the Stadium of Light and keep them motoring along nicely towards the top of the division.

George Dagless

It would tie in with what Sunderland have done this summer.

There is a real Scottish connection at the club now and it appears to be doing them good with them starting the season well.

Christie will be eager to get more minutes and at Sunderland he should get the chance to do that

Jay Williams

This would be yet another impressive piece of business by Sunderland.

The 23-year-old is not quite good enough for Celtic but he was impressive for Aberdeen last year and would definitely be a top player in League One.

With his creativity and goals in midfield, Sunderland would be overloaded with options going forward - a good dilemma for Jack Ross to have.

Ross' Scotland links could help this deal get over the line and then Sunderland's promotion bid would be looking very strong.

Gary Hutchinson

There's loads of potential in this one.

Christie hasn't quite made it at Parkhead, but he's looked really competent and comfortable at Aberdeen.

That should mean he is more than capable of tearing up League One, given a chance.

What a great move this will be if Ross pulls it off.
