Rangers have reportedly joined their bitter rivals Celtic in the race to land Wigan Athletic star Nick Powell.

The 24-year old has been impressive for the Latics this season, scoring four goals and producing four more too, but is out of contract at the end of this season at the DW Stadium.

RB Leipzig, Brighton and Hove Albion and Brendan Rodgers' Celtic have already declared an interest in the playmaker, but reports have now surfaced that the former Manchester United man is of interest to Steven Gerrard's Gers.

Here, we discuss whether Powell would be a good signing for Rangers...

George Harbey

"Powell would be an excellent signing for Rangers.

"He probably hasn't scored the amount of goals he would have liked for Wigan this season, but he offers much more than just goals and is a very talented footballer.

"He's got plenty years of ahead of him to develop as a player, and it'll be interesting to see where he moves to next."

Louie Chandler

"A brilliant signing.

"Powell is one of the Championship's brightest attacking talents and I am surprised there are not more teams at the top of the division in for him.

"He is the sort of signing that could hand them the title."

Gary Hutchinson

"Yes, but it would be a foolish move for the midfielder.

"He’ll play four big games a year up there, that won’t help his development at all.

"He needs a Premier League move in England."
