Following Fulham's positive start to the 2021-22 Championship season, there could be further good news to come in the way of a new contract being signed.

It would have been easy for Marco Silva to just rely on the Championship and top flight experience he possesses in his Cottagers playing squad to try and win the club promotion back to the Premier League, however a brief pre-season campaign saw a few youngsters get given a chance.

One who made his breakthrough at the back end of last season was Fabio Carvalho, and he made a name for himself by netting his very first goal in the Premier League away at Southampton in what was his first league start for the club.

After impressing in pre-season, Silva has placed Carvalho in the number 10 role at just 18 years of age but he's taken to it spectacularly well, scoring twice in the first three Championship matches of the season, including in last night's 2-1 victory over Millwall at The Den.

 

 

 

 

There has been transfer rumours this month linking the teenager with a Premier League move, but according to The Athletic's Peter Rutzler, Carvalho's representatives and Fulham are in talks to extend his contract beyond next summer and those discussions are said to be going well.

It's a positive sign considering Carvalho's red-hot start to the campaign and it has understandably excited Fulham fans.
