Sheffield Wednesday will be keen to put last season's disappointing campaign behind them this summer and form a squad that can challenge at the right end of the table again.

After reaching the play-offs in consecutive seasons the Owls fell to mid-table finish in a heavily disrupted campaign that saw Carlos Carvalhal sacked.

But despite this Jos Luhukay is yet to make a single summer signing which is beginning to concern some of the Hillsborough faithful.

They are particularly short in wide positions with George Boyd, Adam Reach and Marco Matias the only men capable of playing on any wing.

With Aitor Karanka overhauling his attacking options with European talent somebody that Wednesday could poach from Forest could be Barrie McKay.

The 23-year-old signed from Rangers last summer and scored five and assisted seven in his 28 league games for the East Midlands club, however he was well and truly out of the first-team picture and a move away looks on the cards.

So, should Sheffield Wednesday make a move for the Scottish winger?

We discuss...

Louie Chandler  Forest would most likely be willing to sell and McKay would most likely be open to the move so why not? Wednesday need to get a move on this window having not brought in anyone yet. They need to strengthen in the wide areas and, for the right price, McKay could be a great signing. Jay Williams  If they can get him on the cheap and he can rediscover his form, then this would be a very astute signing. The former Rangers man has the ability to beat defenders, score goals and provide assists but he looked completely devoid of confidence after the first few weeks at Forest. An in-form McKay on one wing and Adam Reach on the other would surely see Sheffield Wednesday racing back up the table. Gary Hutchinson  Yes, he's a strong midfielder and would bring solidity to the Owls line up. At 23 he's got youth on his side and a point to prove having been frozen out at the City Ground. Get your phone out Jos! Jay Taylor  Barrie McKay isn’t in Aitor Karanka’s plans for next season and should look to resurrect his career elsewhere. The former Rangers man has been linked with a move away from the City Ground and Sheffield Wednesday would be a solid choice if they were to go for him. McKay is on 23-years-old and will add much-needed youth and pace into the Wednesday team. If he was able to link up with Fernando Forestieri, the attacking options for the Owls would be enhanced. His quick feet and outrageous skill would go down well at Hillsborough.
