Charlton Athletic manager Lee Bowyer could be set to make a move for Nottingham Forest midfielder John Bostock, following the departure of Conor Gallagher, according to a report in The Daily Mail.

The Addicks are now in the market for midfield reinforcements as they look to fight for survival in the Championship and are targeting Bostock, who has previously played for Tottenham Hotspur and Crystal Palace with him making his debut for the Eagles at just 15-years-old.

So would Bostock make a good addition at the Valley? Is he needed?

We discuss.........

Ethan Van Ristell

"The 28-year-old has made a total of just three league appearances for Forest this season on loan from Toulouse, playing a total of 98 minutes of Championship football.

"A loan move to Charlton would represent another chance to prove himself, but this one is a risky signing for the Addicks considering that he has not made the grade at Forest.

"With Charlton's current injury crisis and the recent loan departure of Conor Gallagher, there would be a space for Bostock in the midfield, and it is likely that he would get more minutes at The Valley than he is getting at present.

"However, this does not seem to be the best deal for Charlton, as there are doubts about whether Bostock is up to the standard required."

"I think he’d be a smart signing by the Addicks if they pull it off.

"It’s no secret that Lee Bowyer’s side have had their fair share of injuries this season, which has led to the Charlton boss fielding a number of the younger members of the squad in the starting XI.

"Bostock hasn’t been given much of a chance with Nottingham Forest this season, and he could be tempted by a fresh start with a move to The Valley.

"I think he’d be a regular starter with Charlton as well, which could mean that he has an eye on a move in the near future.

"I’m not surprised that Bostock hasn’t had much of a look-in with Sabri Lamouchi’s men, as the Reds have been on a strong run of form in recent weeks, and it’s rare that you see a manager change a side in good form.

"It could be the ideal time for the midfielder to move on this month."

Toby Wilding

"I think this would be a useful signing for Charlton.

"Having just lost such an important figure in the centre of midfield with Connor Gallagher's departure, you certainly feel as though they do need to add another option to their side in that particular position.

"With the experience that he has playing at a decent level at times during his career, you do feel as Bostock is someone who could take up that role for Charlton going forward this season.

"Indeed, with Gallagher's departure leaving a place in the starting XI to be filled at Charlton, this could well be a move that tempts Bostock, given the lack of opportunities he has had during his time at the City Ground in the current campaign so far."
