Nottingham Forest are weighing up a shock move for former player Jorge Grant, according to TEAMTalk.

The 25-year-old is enjoying a stellar run of form at current club Lincoln City this season, having scored six goals and provided two assists.

Of course, Grant is no stranger to Forest having joined the Reds' youth academy back in 2013, arriving from the Nike Academy.

Grant went onto stay at the City Ground until 2019, though only made 17 appearances for the Reds, spending a large part of his career out on loan.

So, what do you make of this news? Would he be a good signing for the Reds? Is he needed?

This looks as though it would be a smart signing for Forest, though you feel they may need to offload a player or two if they're to sign Grant.

It's been just over a year since they sold the attacking midfielder permanently to Lincoln and he's gone from strength to strength in League One.

The x-year-old is in hot form, firing in x goals and providing x assists already this term, and could be the creative spark that Forest have seemed to be lacking.

Having come through the club's academy, you feel Grant would be open to the move to prove he can cut it at the club but it would likely be frustrating for the Reds to have to pay for a player they developed.

Hughton's squad is big already, however, so he may look to clear some space if he does look to sign the midfielder in January.

I’m not really sure why they ever gave his permanent exit the green-light anyway? Grant always looked like a player that with the right nurturing could make a big impact in the Championship.

The constant changing of management at the City Ground hasn’t helped and now the club find themselves in a position where Hughton wants a player that they had not that long ago.

For what it is worth, I think Grant would be a top signing for Forest. He’s maturing at Lincoln and really making an impact under Michael Appleton.

However, would he be open to returning to Forest? Maybe he wants to stay loyal to Lincoln and help the club that’s had faith in him to win promotion.

Could be a good signing.

He obviously knows the area having been at the club before and he has quality and further room to grow, with him becoming a real asset in recent years.

He's shown at Lincoln he's got the ability to make a real difference in the final third and has rather come into his own during his spell there.

Forest were always going to watch him and how he did for the Imps and I think they have every right to think he'd be a success for them if they re-signed him.
