Despite a defeat last time out, Sheffield Wednesday remain in the promotion race in the Championship, with Garry Monk's side currently seventh in the league, just a point off the play-off places.

Owls manager Garry Monk is still looking to strengthen his squad though and is in pole position to land Crawley Town ace Bez Lubala who is being followed by a host of clubs, according to a report on TEAMtalk.

The forward who can operate up-front or on the wing has scored seven goals so far this season for the Red Devils, and his form has clearly caught the attention of others.

So would Lubala make a good addition to Monk's first team squad? Is he good enough for the Championship?

We discuss.........

Kris Smith

“This would be a solid signing for Wednesday who are in the position where he can slowly integrate his way into the team under not much pressure to immediately perform.

“Wednesday are currently pushing for at least the play-offs under Garry Monk and while they wouldn’t be in the market to overhaul their side in January, signings to bolster the squad improve depth will be welcome, with injuries currently causing problems.

“Lubala has operated mostly on the left-wing this season for Crawley and has been very potent in doing so, scoring seven times, which could help Wednesday out in an area where they lack depth.

“While he is currently in League Two and would need to prove he is capable of the step-up to the Championship, it could be a smart signing for Garry Monk who gave him his Birmingham debut before he left for Crawley.”

Dean Cooke

"Sheffield Wednesday have a very much ageing team at the minute, and are crying out for a bit more youth in their ranks. Lubala can provide that and would also come at a low price.

"He's been excellent in League Two so far this campaign, and has some great attributes that make him very well suited to Championship football. Whether he's ready for the step up yet is another thing, but for the future, this would be a good signing for the Owls.

"It's good to see teams scouting the lower leagues in England, as there is a lot of good talent at different clubs, and some never get that opportunity in the Championship.

"If Sheffield Wednesday were to get promoted it could change their targets on a whole different level, but whilst they're in the Championship, this would be a worthy signing for the club."

"I think that he would be an excellent signing for Sheffield Wednesday - they already have some quality wide players on their books but there is no harm in adding depth to the squad.

"Lubala has scored plenty of goals for Crawley Town this season, and even though it's in League Two, the likes of Ollie Watkins was only proven at that level before making the move to Brentford.

"He is a powerful wide player who can also play down the middle, and he possesses real pace and flair going forward.

"It would be hard for him to break into the team with the likes of Kadeem Harris and Jacob Murphy performing really well, but he would be a perfect signing in terms of adding depth to the squad."
