Leeds United have a real goalkeeping crisis, that could mean that the recruitment of a keeper in January could well be priority for manager Marcelo Bielsa, with the Burnley stopper Tom Heaton a player who is being suggested as a possible target.

The Whites though are not the only Championship club with issues at the back, with the form of Orjan Nyland a concern for Dean Smith at Aston Villa.

So should Villa look to rival Leeds for the signature of Heaton?

I cannot see Villa seriously challenging until they sort out their goalkeeping predicament.

Nyland has been really poor this season and you get the feeling that has had a knock-on effect on the rest of the team at times.

Aston Villa could recall Jed Steer from his loan spell so that kind of tells you that they aren’t really in the market for a goalkeeper.

Orjan Nyland is continuing between the sticks and seemingly has Dean Smith’s backing.

I feel their resources are better spent on the real problem area which is their defence.

George Harbey

Maybe they should.

Nyland has been decent over the last few weeks, but can Villa rely on him all season?

Heaton has experience, knowhow, and would be a really useful signing.
