The January transfer window may have only just closed but Blackburn Rovers manager Tony Mowbray is already looking towards the summer, with Liverpool youngster Curtis Jones a target, according to a report in The Sun.

The 19-year-old is reportedly keen to get regular game-time, having only made a couple of appearances for the Reds in the league and Rovers will be hoping to entice the promising midfielder with the lure of first team football.

So would Jones be a good signing for Blackburn in the summer with this latest update in mind?

We discuss.........

George Harbey

"I think that it would be a real coup to lure Curtis Jones away from Anfield in the summer, even if it is only on a loan deal.

"He is a player who Jurgen Klopp clearly admires and is held in high regard at Anfield having played a decent amount of cup games this season, although a move to the Championship could really help him develop as a player.

"This season, it has been proven that without Bradley Dack, Blackburn struggle when they don't have that creative spark in midfield, and when they look to push for promotion next season, they will need to fix that if something bad happens again.

"Jones is a creative midfielder who is young and hungry to learn, and he could add some real energy and flair to what is an average midfield at Ewood Park. It would be a big statement of intent to get him in the summer."

“If Blackburn can pull off a move for Jones in the summer, it would undoubtedly be a major coup.

“One of the most exciting players to emerge from Liverpool’s academy in recent years, the 19-year-old has already demonstrated glimpses of his talent in the cup competitions this season.

“Yet given that the Reds currently have the likes of Georginio Wijnaldum, Fabinho and Naby Keita at their disposal, Jones may struggle to force his way into the club’s starting eleven next season.

“Therefore, by joining Blackburn on loan, the midfielder could potentially make great strides in terms of his development which in turn may help Tony Mowbray’s side to reach new heights in the Championship."

Chris Thorpe

"This would be a superb signing for Blackburn if they can pull it off over the summer, with Jones having developed into one of the most promising talents in the country.

"He would certainly add some much needed quality to the Blackburn engine room, with their existing midfield having lacked in some areas so far this term.

"It is highly unlikely that Liverpool would sanction a permanent move for the player, so therefore a loan move should in theory suit all parties involved in the deal.

"Jones should thrive at Championship level and would definitely benefit from having an increased amount of first team minutes under his belt."
