Reading FC are one of a handful of Championship sides weighing up a swoop for Derby County striker Chris Martin, the Sun reports on page 60 of today's printed edition.

Sunderland and Fulham are also keen on the Scotland international, who has found it hard to get regular game-time at Pride Park this season.

Would Martin be a good signing for the Royals? Can he help propel Reading up the table?

We discuss.....

Luke Randall

A good move for Jaap Stam.

In need of a striker with the ageing Kermorgant and the ineffective Bodvarsson failing to produce for the Royals, so the introduction of a man who's done it all before in the Championship would benefit the side.

Definitely a player who can help launch Reading up the Championship table, with the service from out wide in a Reading side that holds some creative sparks.

Alfie Burns

This is exactly the type of signing Reading need this month and Stam needs to get himself to the front of the queue to sign the Derby forward.

Even last season when Reading reached the play-off final, the feeling was Stam’s side were short of a striker, which is once again the case this season, with even more pressure on the Royals to strengthen given their league position.

Martin is an experienced Championship forward, and getting him to the Madejski would be a major coup.

Sam Preston

He wouldn't be my first choice for Reading.

It has gone stale there in recent weeks and Martin is not the type of player who lifts teams.

He can score goals when the service is there but bringing him into a team low on confidence does not strike me as a good idea.

Not a worthwhile move for the Royals.
