Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes is reportedly on the shortlist for the vacant managerial role at Stoke City.

The Potters are without a manager after parting company with Gary Rowett on Tuesday afternoon - the former Derby boss won just nine out of twenty-nine games in charge of the Potters, with the Staffordshire club sitting five points off the play-off places in 14th position.

Reports have emerged that 47-year-old McInnes is on the shortlist to replace Rowett - the Scotsman has led the Dons to three cup finals, and four straight second-place Premiership finishes during his six-year stint at Pittodrie.

Here, we discuss whether he'd be a good appointment for the Potters...

George Harbey

"I think it's a big gamble, however, if it pays off then it's a great appointment.

"McInnes has been very successful at Aberdeen and certainly knows how to win games.

"Stoke need a lift, and he'd certainly provide that."

Jacob Potter

"It would be a huge gamble.

"McInnes isn't proven in English football, and I'm not sure this is the right time to take that step with Stoke.

"If a proven Championship manager like Gary Rowett can't get the best out of these players, then I can't see McInnes being able to.

"But sometimes you need to take a chance, and you never know, it could pay off for the Potters."

Louie Chandler

"Not for me.

"Stoke have struggled this season but they are still an attractive club for a lot of managers out there.

"They could do better."
