Burnley have tabled a £4 million bid for MK Dons attacker Scott Twine, as per a Patreon from journalist Alan Nixon.

This follows a bid from Championship rivals Hull City, who reportedly lodged a £3 million bid for the 22-year-old last week.

Netting 20 League One goals, providing 13 assists, and winning the third tier Player of the Season award, Twine has been expected to attract plenty of interest this summer.

Proving to be a versatile option for the Buckinghamshire outfit, the 22-year-old operated on the wings, as a number 10 and as a striker under Liam Manning last season.

Three of our writers here at FLW have shared their thoughts...

This would be a great signing for Burnley given Twine is coming off the back of an excellent season at MK Dons.

The forward is ready to take the step up to the Championship, having earned an impressive 33 goals and assists last year.

£4 million would also be a really solid price for a player who could yet continue to improve as he climbs the football pyramid.

MK Dons should try to earn a higher fee if they can, but it is unlikely Burnley will need to pay much more than this, which makes it a great deal overall if they can get it over the line.

Scott Twine would be a brilliant signing for Burnley. The 22-year-old had a very impressive season with MK Dons scoring 20 goals and registering 13 assists. Although his side were unlucky not to gain promotion, he is a player that deserves the step up.

Furthermore, given his young age and the fact he has plenty of potential, the timing of this move would be strong as Kompany would no doubt be able to do great work with him and help him reach the next stage of his career.

The £4million bid isn’t the most unreasonable figure but given the level of interest in him, you do feel as though MK Dons could try and push it up further.

Hull are also interested in gaining the player’s services and they could well choose to come back and beat Burnley’s most recent bid. Therefore, the Dons may want to take a step back and see where they can get to before accepting an offer which may soften the blow somewhat.

Burnley would be getting themselves a really exciting and solid player if they could convince Scott Twine to join.

He really has lit up League One and there is every chance he could do similar in the Championship given regular action. With the Clarets wanting to get straight back up to the Premier League, Twine is the kind of player who could help them get there.

For a £4m fee as well, you’d have to think it was a bit of a steal of a move if it came off as well. It is a lot of money to spend on a League One player and to give to a League One team but Twine is arguably worth double that from what we’ve seen of him so far.

It would be a huge blow for the Dons but Burnley would have themselves a superb player.
