It has recently been reported by The Bolton News that Bolton are keen to take former Norwich winger Ben Marshall on trial ahead of a potential permanent move to the League One club.

Marshall has been a free-agent since he mutually terminated his contract with the Canaries at the end of last season, and he could be keen to held the Trotters in their fight to avoid relegation this term.

Football League World's Bolton Wanderers fan pundit Lewis Cowell has issued his thoughts on Marshall's rumoured arrival, and feels as though the midfielder would be a good addition to Keith Hill's squad.

"Ben Marshall would be a great signing for Bolton as having him join the squad would improve our squad in terms of squad depth.

"Substitutes are something that we lack and we don’t really have anyone that can come on in the last 20/30 minutes and change a game and Ben Marshall could slide into the first team leaving Dennis Politic to be our impact player off the bench.

Cowell went on to admit that Marshall would add some much-needed strength in depth to the Bolton wide areas, with Keith Hill's side lacking in creativity so far this season.

"The wide areas are probably some of our strongest areas in the squad with Thibaud Verlinden and Dennis Politic playing very well in recent games.

"However, another wide player would be fantastic as it would leave us with more options only further improving on what we already have.

The regular punter also felt that Marshall would start regularly for Bolton if he was to sign for them, and revealed that it would take the pressure off of the likes of Dennis Politic in this year's campaign.

"I think Marshall could potentially be a starter in the Bolton squad and if he was I believe that it would be in replacement of Dennis Politic. Doing so would mean that Politic could be the super sub that we need later on in games."
