It really doesn’t surprise me to see Rangers, and Steven Gerrard in particular shopping in the lower leagues.
Having signed Joe Aribo from Charlton, George Edmundson from Oldham and Greg Stewart from Birmingham City, three players that have all performed relatively well at Ibrox, Gerrard clearly sees the EFL as a decent gap in the market where he can get quality players for a reasonable fee.
And you’d have to say that Hamer, whose impressed during his first season in English football definitely falls into that category.
Hamer has already notched four times from midfield for the Sky Blues this season, and I don’t see many reasons as to why he wouldn’t be another shrewd addition for the Gers.
