Norwich City are reportedly interested in a deal to sign Celtic defender Kristoffer Ajer according to The Scottish Sun.

The Canaries will be planning for life back in the Premier League, after they clinched promotion from the Championship earlier this month.

Daniel Farke's side have been the team to beat for much of this year's campaign, and he'll be eager to see his side consolidate themselves in the top-flight next season.

Ajer has been with Celtic since 2016, after signing from Norwegian side Start, and has gone on to make 43 appearances in all competitions for the Bhoys this term.

Leicester City are also believed to be keen on a deal to sign Ajer, so the Canaries will know that they face serious competition to land his signature in the summer.

But would Ajer be a good addition to Daniel Farke's Norwich City side ahead of the 2021/22 campaign?

We discuss...

Phil Spencer:

This would be a fantastic move for Norwich City.

After securing promotion the focus for the Canaries will be on improving their squad and after last season the defence is bound to be an area of focus.

Ben Gibson already looks set to join, but Ajer would be a top addition.

The Celtic man has attracted the interested of plenty of Europe's biggest clubs and that's down to his defensive dominance and his ability to play out from the back.

While there's big competition for his signature there's no doubt that he'd be a great fit and a signing who would be very popular.

Ben Wignall:

The general consensus up in Scotland is that Ajer is ready for a Premier League move, just like Virgil Van Dijk was when he swapped Celtic for Southampton years ago, and the Norwegian could probably do better than the Canaries - no disrespect intended of course.

However in terms of gaining regular minutes, Norwich would be a great move for Ajer as they will definitely be needing to add another centre-back to their ranks.

Obviously having Ben Gibson, Grant Hanley and Christoph Zimmermann is a solid if unspectacular cast for the top flight, however Ajer could add some real class to that mix.

He's really comfortable on the ball and at the age of 23, Ajer still has a lot of time on his side to get even better - if the price is right I can see this being a great signing for Norwich.

Toby Wilding:

I could see this being a very good signing for Norwich if they get it done.

Recent injuries to the likes of Ben Gibson and Christoph Zimmermann have exposed something of a lack of strength in depth for Norwich at centre back, meaning that is an area the Canaries will have to strengthen if they are to be competitive in the Premier League next season.

Given his experience playing in a high level with Celtic, winning trophies and competing in Europe, is does seem as though Ajer is the sort of player who has the experience and pedigree to help fill that role for Norwich.

Indeed, with other Premier League clubs having been linked to Ajer in the past, this would be some of statement of intent from Norwich if they were to manage to get this done, meaning it does seem to be well worth them pursuing it.
