Derby County are plotting a move for Beni Baningime, according to Football Insider.

The 22-year-old midfielder has fallen way down the pecking order at current club Everton and that has paved the way for Wayne Rooney to bring him to the Championship club on loan.

The Rams are determined to strenghthen their squad before the 11pm deadline, but would this be a good move?

The team at FLW have their say...

Chris Thorpe It would be a brilliant move for the player and Derby respectively as they would be acquiring a youngster who is keen to make an impression at first team level. Given that Baningime has already been afforded 12 first team appearances, it would be fair to say that the Toffees rate him highly. He will add something different to what the Rams already have in the midfield engine room and I think this could prove to be a smart addition by Wayne Rooney. It's clear that he'll be looking to utilise his relationship with his former club to great effect during his tenure at Pride Park.

Can you name each of these 17 ex-Derby County players just by looking at these 3 clues?

George Dagless I think this would be a good move. I like the quality that the young Everton man has and I think he is well-suited to Championship football. He's good on the ball, a physical, fit presence in the middle of the park and one that should be ready to show he's good enough for senior football at least at this level. Under Wayne Rooney he'll learn a great deal as well so I think it is a move that should suit all parties if it goes through. Alfie Burns There are probably more pressing issues in this Derby squad at the moment that need to be addressed like a striker or a defender but this isn’t a deal you’d want to overlook. Baningime is a player with real quality and will be someone that Wayne Rooney knows all about. He could provide a great option for Derby in the midfield during the second-half of the season and really add another dimension to their play as they look to transition. As I’ve mentioned, Derby need a striker today and I wouldn’t be at all surprised if Rooney wanted some defensive cover too. However, getting this deal done could be the icing on the cake if the above takes care of itself.
