Celtic are reportedly interested in a deal to sign Peterborough United forward Siriki Dembele according to TEAMtalk.

Dembele has caught the eye with a number of impressive performances for the League One side, having scored five goals in 13 appearances for Posh.

His good run of form in front of goal has seen Darren Ferguson’s side move to second in the third-tier standings after 13 matches this term.

It is reported that Derby, Wolves, Brentford and QPR are also keen on a deal to sign Dembele in the January transfer window, and it appears as though the Bhoys will have to fight hard to land his signature.

It’s not been the ideal start to this year’s league campaign for Neil Lennon’s side, as they currently sit second in the Scottish Premiership, and 11 points adrift of league-leaders Rangers heading into the festive period.

But would Dembele be a good signing for Celtic?

We discuss….

George Dagless:

Potentially.

It would be a big step from Peterborough to Celtic but it would be an exciting one at that.

The Hoops are missing a bit of edge at the moment and are falling behind Rangers at a concerning rate in the league.

They need players that are going to get on the ball and try and make things happen, then, and Dembele has that ability in his locker.

The only issue is he’d need time to probably adapt to such big surroundings but, if he did, there’s a good chance he could be a decent player for them.

Chris Thorpe:

This is a rumour that I have been waiting for – Siriki is the brother of teenage Celtic sensation Karamoko Dembele, so it seems that this was an almost inevitable link that would be picked up on at some point.

The chance to link up with his brother at a club that wins trophies on a consistent basis may be too hard for Siriki to turn down,. however as we have seen with Posh in the past, it all depends on the finances involved.

There is no doubt that Dembele would be worth investing in as his goals and assists in recent seasons have really lit up things for Peterborough in League One.

I think he would be a hit in Scotland but I do not think they will be the only club in for the talented forward as we move towards January.

Which member of Peterborough's current squad joined the club first?

Jake Sanders:

Dembele is more than good enough to play in the Scottish Premiership, but I believe that he’d be far more suited for a Championship move – with a potential future view to eventually making the grade in the Premier League.

But having said that, Celtic are desperately short of goals and general quality right now, so signing someone like Dembele could be exactly what’s needed to get themselves back into the title race with Rangers.

This could prove to be a shrewd bit of transfer business by the Bhoys if they can win the race to land his signature.
