Arsenal may look to loan out 20-year-old Emil Smith Rowe in January, according to a report from ESPN

The Gunners midfielder was hugely impressive for the Terriers last term and reports have suggested they tried to bring him back in the summer.

But should Huddersfield push to sign him in January? And will it happen?

We asked our FLW writers for their thoughts...

Alfie Burns

I think Huddersfield plugged the gap in their squad with Carel Eiting.

Smith Rowe was good for Huddersfield last season and the loan was excellent for his development, but the midfield (particularly in an attacking sense) isn’t an issue for Corberan at this moment in time.

Eiting, Alex Pritchard, and Juninho Bacuna have him covered and the re-signing of Smith Rowe would be such a waste.

Corberan’s squad is in desperate need of a centre-back to compliment his ball-playing philosophy and a striker at the other end of the pitch to offer them a bit more threat.

George Dagless

I think they should go after him.

He enjoyed his time at the club and I think the club enjoyed having him on loan so it would make sense if both parties were to get it done again.

He's a player capable of playing potentially in the Premier League, though, so I think Huddersfield will face a battle to get him back - not that that should deter them from at least trying.

Will it happen?

Well, that depends on who is potentially interested, as I've hinted at earlier. I do think a lot of clubs will be interested in him and potentially ones from the top flight so it's hard to predict a destination.

Which club did Huddersfield Town sign each of these 25 players from?

Toby Wilding

I definitely think they should be trying to make something happen here.

Smith Rowe made a big impact for Huddersfield during his time at the John Smith's Stadium last season, so you do feel it would be a big lift for the Terriers if he was to return to the club, considering the impact he is capable of making.

Given he knows the club as well, this could be a tempting deal for Smith Rowe as well - especially given he should be confident of getting game time there - meaning that there may be a chance for this to happen, should Huddersfield make a strong enough pitch for him.

However, having already shown he is good enough for the Championship, Arsenal may now want to see the attacking midfield given the chance to prove himself in the Premier League during the second half of this season - something which may appeal to the player himself - meaning I think it could be difficult for Huddersfield to get this deal done if top-flight interest emerges in him, particularly with the finances those clubs could offer.
