Speculation that Bristol City midfielder Josh Brownhill will join Leeds United returned this week after the two sides played out a 2-2 draw at Elland Road on Saturday.

The energetic Englishman, who can play either as a central midfielder or on the right flank worked alongside Leeds boss Paul Heckingbottom during their time together at Barnsley and he strikes me as exactly the kind of player he would like to bring to the club.

Whether it will happen is another story and despite both sides enduring a poor start to 2018, the Robins' promotion hopes are still in much better shape than those of Hecky's new club.

If it does, we've taken a little look forward and had a think about what any potential deal might mean for one of Leeds' current midfielders, Republic of Ireland international Eunan O'Kane.

The former Bournemouth man adds energy to the engine room when he's on his best form but he is going through a poor spell, giving away the penalty that allowed Sheffield United to win a Yorkshire derby and failing to impress up against Brownhill's City team on Sunday.

Brownhill has similar ability and willingness to cover ground, but offers more versatility and technical ability and also boasts the added bonus of being the younger man too.

That means that if Brownhill were to sign on the dotted line for Leeds, O'Kane would be among those most at risk of his place in the first team and also at the club at all.
