After a summer of heavy recruitment at the City Ground, it seems that Nottingham Forest manager Aitor Karanka may finally be happy to let some of his squad leave, after Football Insider reported that midfielder Ben Watson is free to leave the club in January.

Watson, 33, joined Forest in February 2018 on a two-and-a-half year deal having previously been at Crystal Palace, Wigan, QPR, West Brom and Watford.

So should Millwall make a move for Ben Watson in January?

With Shaun Williams and Ryan Leonard, the Millwall midfield is set with their first-team options - all Ben Watson would be is a backup option in my opinion.

It wouldn’t make sense, in all honesty, as Neil Harris would want younger options that have more of a future at the club and he would only get a one-year deal.

It would be a backwards step if Millwall were to make a move for Ben Watson.

Gary Hutchinson

Watson would fit nicely at Millwall but having watched him this season he does look off the Championship pace.

He could be a key player for the Lions if he finds the form he showed last season.

I’m very surprised he’s been pushed out at Forest, it’s another reflection on Karanka’s confusing policy.

George Dagless

Potentially.

Millwall seem to need some extra steel in the middle of the park and Watson would bring that.

He's an experienced pro, worth taking a closer look at.
