According to reputable journalist Alan Nixon, Newcastle United will be willing to let Dwight Gayle leave for a price of around £8m this month.
Reports from the Telegraph have previously stated that the Magpies will look to demand up to £15m for the striker’s services, amid interest from the likes of Leeds and Nottingham Forest.
Gayle – who scored 24 goals on loan at West Bromwich Albion last term – has struggled for regular game time under Steve Bruce this term, making just two Premier League starts.
But now, Nixon claims that Newcastle would be happy to let Gayle leave for £8m this month – a much cheaper price than what was previously stated in other reports.

It is clear to see why Forest would want a player like Gayle at the City Ground. The 29-year-old is a proven goalscorer at Championship level, and the Reds need cover for top goalscorer Lewis Grabban.
Here, we take a look at Forest fans’ reactions to Gayle’s price tag on the Nottingham Forest News Facebook page…
Stephen Smith: £8m to sign a “biscuit” no thanks and move onto other targets.
Mike Sinden: I thought we were getting someone in at the start ,not half way through , same as last season and the season before , talk talk talk, , nothing happens , can no one make a decision , sort it now
John Michael Cross: ‘IF’ his goals get us promoted then 8m is a snip!! But it’s a big ‘IF’ so I have my doubts!
Mark Richard Whiting: Y isn’t he signed like right now £8 million yer he’s injured when he comes back be a right bargain
Antony Michael Walton: Yes definitely I hope they can land him he’s a proven goal scorer at this level
Mike von Jennings: If the £8m gets us promotion that’s worth £120m then it’s worth every penny. Personally would prefer a loan, but if needs must….
James Mark Swain: A bit like paying £2.99 for a out of date burger dropped on the floor
