Sunderland were held to their third League One draw of the season last night by Rochdale and many fans of the North East club appear frustrated by the performance of midfielder George Dobson.

Phil Parkinson will have been hoping for a response after his side were beaten 3-1 by Portsmouth on the weekend but despite taking the lead twice, through Charlie Wyke and then Bailey Wright, were unable to stop their opponents pulling back level.

Matty Lund’s brace before the half ensured that Rochdale earned a point from Sunderland’s visit to the Crown Oil Arena in what was a frustrating afternoon for the Black Cats.

The North East club have not made a particularly convincing start to their third consecutive season in League One and will have been disappointed by their lack of control against last night’s opponents.

The performance of Dobson, who started in central midfielder, didn’t help matters as he gave away possession on 11 occasions and failed to make one key pass all evening (Sofascore).
