Sunderland were held to their third League One draw of the season last night by Rochdale and many fans of the North East club appear frustrated by the performance of midfielder George Dobson.
Phil Parkinson will have been hoping for a response after his side were beaten 3-1 by Portsmouth on the weekend but despite taking the lead twice, through Charlie Wyke and then Bailey Wright, were unable to stop their opponents pulling back level.
Matty Lund’s brace before the half ensured that Rochdale earned a point from Sunderland’s visit to the Crown Oil Arena in what was a frustrating afternoon for the Black Cats.
The North East club have not made a particularly convincing start to their third consecutive season in League One and will have been disappointed by their lack of control against last night’s opponents.
The performance of Dobson, who started in central midfielder, didn’t help matters as he gave away possession on 11 occasions and failed to make one key pass all evening (Sofascore).
Are these 10 facts about the Stadium of Light true or false?
The 22-year-old’s display certainly appears to have caught the attention of the Stadium of Light faithful, with many fans taking to Twitter to voice their thoughts.

Easy …. never play Dobson again…. has to be worst performance ever in an safc shirt

If my 10 year old misplaced as many passes as Dobson I’d find it hard not to be critical! When your manager is stating that’s very very good, accept that we are very very much in trouble #safc https://t.co/DjYq4430yA

I usually hate to jump on this ‘etc etc is awful’ bandwagon but I can’t defend George Dobson’s ‘display’ for #SAFC tonight.
There must’ve been at least half a dozen times he gave the ball away under 0️⃣ pressure from Rochdale.
Game management in all areas was atrocious as well.

Regarding George Dobson, I have to admit that I was optimistic when he signed. I had visions of him becoming a powerhouse midfielder who would replace Lee Barry Cattermole and stamp his mark on the midfield. Suffice it to say, it hasn’t worked out that way. #SAFC 🔴⚪️

dont ever start connor mclaughlin or george dobson for this club ever again
— Tyler (@SAFCTylerr) October 27, 2020
He’s gone and topped Jason Denayer, Steven Pienaar, Christian Bassilla, Darron Gibson and countless others to put in the worst midfield performance in safc history. Well done George Dobson.

If I had a penny for every time George Dobson gave the ball away tonight it would have covered the £10 streaming fee. #SAFC
