It's been a pretty frustrating season for Middlesbrough up until now with them not looking like the side many had expected them to be.

The men from the Riverside came into this season as one of the favourites to go straight back into the Premier League and spent the money to suggest that they were going to be hard to stop. However, we're nearly in November and that has not really looked close to happening with inconsistency plaguing Garry Monk's men.

Certainly, then, there is work to do this season before the men from Teesside can get themselves back into the promotion paying places and it looks as though Britt Assombalonga has a glaring issue that he needs to address.

Indeed, as per Stat Attack on Twitter, the striker signed in the summer has been called offside more than anyone else in the division this year:

Of course, that could suggest that he is getting close to getting it right and being in a good goal-scoring opportunity but you've got to stay onside more than that at this level. It's something he needs to work on, then, and it's something Boro will be eager to see him sort.

The Verdict

Assombalonga is the one expected to fire Boro to promotion but until he stays onside more that is going to be seriously up for debate.

Of course, other players need to do their thing and put a shift in, too, and until that happens Boro won't be going up.
