Several of Sheffield Wednesday's players have not been paid their monthly wages in full according to BBC Yorkshire's Rob Staton.

It's set to be an interesting summer ahead at Hillsborough, with the club previously issuing an update on a number of player's futures at the club.

Sheffield Wednesday have struggled to build on a positive start to this year's league campaign, and will be hoping they can finish the season strongly.

The Owls had previously occupied a spot in the play-off places, but a poor run of results since the turn of the New Year means that Garry Monk's side are now sat 13th in the Championship table.

Wednesday beat Bristol City in their last match, and will be keen to build on that when they return to action at Hillsborough on Wednesday evening.

It's going to be a tough ask to make it back-to-back wins though, as they host promotion-chasing West Brom, who will be eager to get back to winning ways themselves, after a run of four games without a win, or a goal.

The Sheffield Wednesday supporters will be hoping that this off-the-field update doesn't have a negative impact on their performances on the pitch, with it coming at a far from ideal time heading into the final seven matches of their season.

The Verdict:

This will be a concerning update for the club's supporters to hear of.

Sheffield Wednesday have had their off-the-field troubles over the years, but you would imagine that they would have thought they were coming to the end of those.

But that clearly isn't the case, and it'll be interesting to see if the club are to address this rumour, as questions will surely be raised by supporters over the matter.

It's been a season to forget for the Owls, both on and off the pitch, that's for certain.
