Brighton are bracing themselves for a bid for last season’s top goal scorer, Tomer Hemed, according to the Sun (Thursday edition, page 57).
The 29-year-old joined the club last summer from Spanish side Almeria and was a huge success in his first season in the Championship, scoring 17 times as the Seagulls reached the play-offs.
However, Brighton could suffer a blow as Chris Hughton looks to build a side capable of claiming promotion this time around with the club expecting bids for Hemed.
One of the clubs reported to be interested is the Israeli strikers former club, Maccabi Haifa.
Hemed started his career with the Israeli giants and they are now said to be keen to take him back to his homeland as they prepare for a Europa League campaign.
According to the report, the Israeli side are prepared to pay £5m for the powerful 6ft forward, a fee that may tempt the Seagulls into selling as it would allow them to invest elsewhere in the squad, as well as give them a significant profit on the £1m fee they reportedly paid a year ago.
