Bolton Wanderers are on the brink of administration as they prepare for a High Court hearing tomorrow.

The Trotters have failed to pay a £1.2m tax bill, although the past two hearings have been adjourned as owner Ken Anderson looks to find a buyer.

It seemed that would be the case, with former Watford chief Laurence Bassini hopeful of concluding a deal for the relegated Championship outfit. However, there were always doubts as to whether he would be able to fund a deal and it appears he won't be able to.

Although, Bassini claims the hold up has been down to Anderson.

"Ken Anderson is not sticking to the agreed deal and my hands are tied as a result, it's very frustrating, I am trying to save this club but it looks increasingly like administration will happen," the Telegraph reveal he had told Sky Sports.

Therefore, Bassini's prediction of administration seems likely tomorrow, meaning the Lancashire outfit will be the first English club in six years to be in this position.

If that is the case, they will start next season with a 12 point deduction in League One.

The Verdict

This is obviously awful news for Bolton but in truth it's what the fans would've expected as the situation with Bassini has just dragged on.

You have to feel sorry for the supporters, and the players who are still waiting for their March wages, because they don't deserve to be in this situation.

It's going to be a long road back for them starting next season with a deduction but the fans will just hope a new buyer will emerge after they're put into administration.
