According to reports in The Sentinel, Stoke City have highlighted Fulham right-back Ryan Fredericks as a possible target for the club this transfer window.
Fulham are a side that have attracted a lot of attention over the past couple of months, as their left-back starlet Ryan Sessegnon continues to be linked with some of the world’s best.
So, with news of another Premier League side attempting to try and take away another player in their impressive defensive unit, this could spell major trouble for Slavisa Jokanovic.
It’s been the pace of Ryan Fredericks that’s caught the eye of the Potters this season, as he continues to produce storming runs down the right-hand side that has caused many Championship defender’s problems.
The defender is a former youth-product of Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham side, and the Englishman could be shipped out sooner than people think with his contract expiring during the summer.
Which is much to the delight of Stoke City fans, as this could mean he’s available at a cut-price.
Indeed, the 25-year-old has been at Craven Cottage for two-and-a-half-years now as one of their most loyal player’s. But if the Premier League come calling then it’s going to be very hard to turn down for the defender.
Ryan Fredericks is a dangerous player.
He can offer Stoke immense amounts of pace, that can both be utilized in defending against trickier opposition, and moving forward into attacking positions.
Letting the right-back go could be troublesome with no quality back-up option for the Cottagers, although they may not have a say in the matter.
There’s no doubt it would be a huge loss for the side, seeing a player depart that’s been so loyal towards the club as one of the most consistent performers Craven Cottage has ever seen.
