Newcastle United are amongst a host of European clubs in pursuit of Celtic defender Jozo Simunovic, according to reports from the Daily Mail.
The Magpies are rivalling the likes of La Liga outfits Espanyol and Sevilla as well as Bundesliga side Red Bull Leipzig in a race to pursue the 22-year-old, as Rafa Benitez’ men embark on the top flight.
Premier League duo Crystal Palace and West Brom are also potential suitors of the Croatian, who has made 33 appearances for the Scottish champions.
Simunovic came close to moving to Serie A outfit Torino last August, and the Italian side are also reportedly keen on the centre-half again, however the prospect of the Premier League as well as the size and the stature of Newcastle United could be enough to lure him to St. James’ Park in the Summer.
Benitez will be preparing a Summer overhaul at St. James’ Park, after what was a dismal January transfer window, where the Spaniard failed to bring in a single player.
So… What do you think Newcastle fans? Would Jozo Simunovic be a good signing? Leave your thoughts in the comments below!
