Middlesbrough manager Jonathan Woodgate has suggested that Boro are looking to make at least one or two more signings this month, following their 1-0 defeat at Fulham on Friday.

Boro have already been busy this month in the transfer market bringing in both Patrick Ronerts and Lukas Nmecha on loan from Manchester City to bolster their attacking options for the second half of the campaign, while they have also brought in goalkeeper Dejan Stojanovic from Swiss side St Gallen.

Woodgate will be looking to add some more additions to his squad to try and also bolster his defensive options before the end of the window, and Boro have been linked with a potential move for Augsburg defender Reece Oxford.

Speaking to the GazetteLive following Middlesbrough’s defeat at Fulham, Woodgate suggested that he is still looking for a couple of additions but he refused to be drawn on whether they are after Oxford.

"A lot of players get linked," he said.

"When something happens, I'll let you know. A lot of good players get linked with our club.

"A lot of centre-halves tick boxes, a lot of midfielders tick boxes, a lot of forwards tick boxes.

"I've no idea, one or two (more signings), let's see ."

The Verdict

Woodgate clearly feels like he needs to add to his squad further between now and the end of the window, as he looks to continue his sides recent positive run of form, which was somewhat brought to an end by their defeat at Fulham on Friday night.

Boro have already brought in both Roberts and Nmecha to improve their attacking options, and the pair have shown signs that they will be able to improve Middlesbrough’s creativity and goal output during the rest of the campaign.

Woodgate will now be hoping that he is able to bring in some defensive reinforcements, and Oxford could potentially be a smart signing were he to arrive from Augsburg, with the defender likely to be highly motivated to prove himself back in English football.
